First half: Starting from Saito’s wish to pass on in the way called Shigesen, returning to the other world together with the physical body like En no Gyoja, the talk turns to preparing for our passing in this era. For ‘digital assets’ such as online banks, crypto assets and electronic money, and ‘digital belongings’ such as emails, photos, social media accounts and subscriptions, write down the IDs and passwords so that our families can find them, and delete anything we do not want seen while our minds are still clear.
For those who are losing confidence as they grow older, two practices for returning to divinity: learning to sing all four verses of the Byakko hymn ‘Eternal Light’, which Goi-sensei himself called his finest work, without looking at the lyrics, and learning to recite the poem ‘Honshin (True Self)’ anytime and anywhere. When the feelings of the source of life become our own, any worry that arises ends in an instant through inspiration from our Guardian Spirits.
The first half closes with how to thin out self-denial. Beneath the self-limitation (the ego) piled up over hundreds and thousands of past lives lies the ringleader of self-denial: ‘I am this physical body, and I am weak.’ The opening words of the declarations thin it out first. We are souls who have brought other stars to completion, so we can use even a smartphone by intuition alone. Even if we have to crawl or roll, now is the time to move forward and become one with God ahead of humanity.
Second half: A YouTube short video shows that the synapses of the brain can grow at any age, and that with curiosity and aspiration the brain keeps evolving until the moment of death. Learning how blood, interstitial fluid and lymph flow and how metabolism works, we see that the body works soundly when we acknowledge its divinity and thank our cells.
Then a practice of feeling the energy of our palms: the palms of those who pray for world peace emit the energy of the Great Light of World Salvation. We gazed at our palms and faced them toward each other to feel the energy (please do not try this alone outside this setting). This is a way of using energy to ease ourselves and our families, clearly distinct from Byakko’s purification. The session ends with establishing the axis of our own divinity: not handing over our own authority by revering someone else, and knowing that what we seek lies deep within our own life.
