【To Be Conscious of the Growth of the Soul】

◎The way middle-aged and older adults ought to be

Because middle-aged and older people have spent a longer time in this world than younger people, if we look only within the time span of this world, it seems natural that all people in the middle-aged and older generation should demonstrate ways of seeing, thinking, and living that can serve as a model for the younger generation.

However, when we look at reality, there are people who, even while still young, live in a way that could be called a model for the middle-aged and older generation, and there are also middle-aged and older people who, from the perspective of the younger generation, can only appear to be negative examples. This is a way of seeing that arises precisely because we restrict the concept of time to this world alone.

If, in addition to this world, we consider the time from past lives up to the present and observe, different aspects come into view. When we look from a panoramic perspective that human life is not limited to a single lifetime but exists within the repeated cycle of reincarnation, we can see the way each person lives and say, “It makes sense that it would be that way.”

For example, the reason we are now seeking truth in this lifetime and have become connected to the world of prayers for world peace is the result of continuing to seek the Way through many past lives. And if, as a fundamental point, we also consider why we transferred to Earth from other planets in the first place, we can understand that it is the natural course of things that we are now connected to and working together with the Great Light of Salvation.

Yet even we, if we honestly reflect on the movements of our hearts and on our words and actions, can see that there are still times when we are swept along by habits of thought confined to the physical body, or when we lose sight of our sacred position and fall away from a panoramic vantage point.

◎The driving force that shapes destiny

It goes without saying, but every human being born into this world ages equally, and when the lifespan comes, we return to the other world. However, within a life in which we all equally accumulate the passing years, we live while possessing just one element that is not equal.

That is the part of what, moment by moment, in each fleeting instant, we think, what we say, and what kinds of actions we take (and have taken) as we live. Most people on Earth are not aware of it, but through that, even as we overwrite and overwrite again, we are shaping the destiny of the future. Our own thoughts, words, and actions become the driving force that draws our destiny, and that is why all kinds of “differences” and “distinctions” arise.

It may feel unreasonable, from the emotional viewpoint of a physical-body-based outlook, that the free will granted to each human being—something that could be called God’s grace—ends up becoming the source of inequality. But if we imagine the opposite kind of world, we can readily acknowledge how precious that “granted free will” is, and that it is not something that can be evaluated in terms of good or bad.

As evidence, please imagine, just for a moment, “a world in which free will is not permitted at all.” In such a world, no freedom or spontaneity is recognized in each individual person. Therefore, if we were living in such a world, we would all have to move entirely at the will of the Creator of Life. That appearance would be as though “human beings were robots operating according to a program given by humans,” and if we were to live in such a world, it is obvious that we would be unable to feel happiness such as love, joy, or gratitude there.

◎Using consciousness consciously

At the beginning, I wrote about the view that “middle-aged and older adults ought to become models for the younger generation,” but setting aside “the way things have been so far, which has not necessarily become that way,” and focusing on the advantages of the middle-aged and older generation limited to this world, we can see that people in the middle-aged and older generation have “abundant life experience” compared to younger people.

Originally, because middle-aged and older people have life experience that has tasted both bitterness and sweetness, it would not be strange if they possessed a finer character than younger people.

If we look for the cause in cases where people have not reached the awareness of sacred reawakening, we are reminded of how they have lived without using consciousness consciously, instead being carried along by the unconscious (emotional thoughts and habitual patterns of thought).

The danger of living unconsciously can be compared to “the mental state of a person who repeatedly causes traffic accidents while driving.” In the beginning, when one first obtains a driver’s license, one surely pays meticulous attention to surrounding conditions and concentrates on driving without distracted driving. Yet as one “gets used to driving,” one’s vigilance loosens, one oneself creates the causes that invite accidents, and as a result, one ends up causing accidents.

As for concrete methods of using consciousness consciously, I will omit them here because I believe those who are connected to GOI-sensei understand them. Instead, let us further subdivide the matter here and observe the branching point that separates those who enter the path of the evolution of consciousness from those who die without ever reaching it.

When we do so, we can see that there is a difference between whether one “ran into the fundamental questions of life that should originally be necessary for a person to live as a human being and pondered them,” or whether one “passed straight by them.”

At the foundation of what divides people unequally lies the difference between whether one has faced or has not faced philosophical questions such as “What are we human beings?” “For what purpose is a person born?” “What kind of path should a life be lived as?” and “What happens to life when we die (where do we go)?”

◎Returning to the essence of life

When a human being is born into this world having lost all memories of the other world and past lives, unable even to stand on one’s own feet, having lost the wisdom and knowledge cultivated through past lives, and even unable to speak properly; and then little by little acquires (remembers) the elements necessary to live, becomes able to do what one could not do, and upon reaching an appropriate age many people marry and bear and raise children; and when children leave the nest, one re-questions the meaning of one’s life and lives toward the completion of one’s character—beneath all of that, we can discern the great love of the Parent of life: the Great God of the Universe created humanity, shared His own power, and entrusted us with the creation of a world of great harmony on each planet.

Acts such as bearing and raising children and giving back to society are, in a sense, like humanity having a simulated experience of what the Great God of the Universe is doing. Also, through the process of moving from babyhood to early childhood, from early childhood to boyhood, from boyhood to youth, and from youth to middle age, mature age, and old age, we all, without noticing, experience bearing a part of the creation of the universe. That means that we once place ourselves in the coarse vibrational sphere farthest from the vibration of cosmic creative consciousness, refine both material vibration and spiritual vibration there, and engage in the creation of a world of great harmony.

In that sense, regardless of differences such as whether each individual marries or not, bears children or not, leaves a name in the world or not, or accumulates wealth or not, we humanity can say that, within each reincarnation life, we have simulated the grand process of the evolution of consciousness on a cosmic level.

When we have looked this far, we can see that the key to becoming conscious of the soul’s growth and elevating one’s character to spiritual stature and divine stature is to remember who one is, to use consciousness consciously, and first to discipline oneself from a moral direction, raising the dimensions of one’s mind and body from the principles of the physical body to the principles of the spiritual body, and from the principles of the spiritual body to the principles of the divine body.

On Saturday night, we will make it a time for all of us to become conscious of the growth of our souls, to bring clearly to the surface our awareness of divine humanity, and to connect with one another through the sacred. If your schedule allows, please join us.

3. Touitsu through the Prayer for World Peace

TOGUCHI: Thank you very much. Next, we will enter into a unifying practice so that we may fully feel that the various elements of Light from the Teachings of Light we have just practiced are firmly rooted within each of us and vividly present as reality.

Even if, along the way, you sense the vibration of forms dissolving and fading away, trust that through the bright resonance of the Teachings of Light we just invoked, and through the loving vibration of the Guardian Spirits and Guardian Deities who are embracing us, those dissolving waves are melting away from within your heart just as snow melts when spring arrives. Entrust yourself to gratitude toward the Guardian Spirits and Guardian Deities and to the vibration of the Prayer for World Peace.

At such times, it can also be effective to recall “Ware soku Kami nari – Jin-rui soku Kami nari” and softly recite it within your heart. Now, let us begin.

Sekai Jin-rui ga Heiwa de ari-masu you-ni.
Nippon ga Heiwa de ari masu you-ni.

May our missions be accomplished.
We thank you, Guardian Deities and Guardian Spirits.

4. Divine Spark IN

SAITO: Thank you very much. Finally, we will form the Sign of Sacred Reawakening seven consecutive times. Becoming one with the Divine Beings and the Angels of the Universe, we will send the Light of the Great God of the Universe to all of nature, to all living beings, and to all humanity. Now, let us begin.

We send the Universal God’s Light to Great Nature, to all living beings, and to humanity.
We send the Universal God’s Light to Great Nature, to all living beings, and to humanity.

<Form the Mudra of Divine Reawakening seven times in succession>
<Remain as you are and meditate with eyes closed for 14 seconds>

TOGUCHI: Thank you very much.

SAITO: Thank you so much.

That’s all.
