Until now, Japan has done its best to avoid involvement in overseas conflicts, while relying on the U.S. nuclear umbrella. Although the preamble and chapter 9 of Japan's peace constitution advocate noble ideals, the Japanese people haven't endeavored to materialize the national ideals as realities. Unfortunately, the current crisis in Ukraine is driving the Japanese opinions toward revision of the constitution and strengthening of the defense forces such as:
- The Security Council of the Liberal Democratic Party suggested that Japan should have the ability to attack enemy bases, and to double the military budget in the coming 5 years.
- A recent opinion survey showed that over 70% of those who answered said Yes to the "emergency provision" in the planned constitution. It aims to concentrate all the power on the Prime Minister at the time of emergencies.
- A NHK's survey showed that people who feel it necessary to revise the constitution exceeded those who don't by 12%.
- The Association of Japanese Commercial Broadcasters is opposing enactment of a law that strengthens the limitations of TV commercials regarding public referendum on the constitutional revision.
If this trend continues, Japan will largely deviate from its heavenly given mission--working as the central country for the establishment of world peace--and lose the meaning of its existence.The Japanese people need to restore their divinity even one day sooner, and awaken to their heavenly given mission.
